AnshStudio's Artfire and ETSY online stores were in full swing. There were days and weeks when I would receive more than one order from a particular e-store and feel very excited. There were also some gloomy days, when order's won't show up for almost a week. Like you say, there is always a silver lining - so I was patient and believed its going to work.. just has to be the right timing!! and so far it has been working, I do receive orders from both my online stores periodically and get excited each time a customer leaves a feedback. Thanks to all those wonderful people out there for building a strong network and community of handmade items and for appreciating handmade so much!
As the next step to advance further I decided to get my customized tags and cards. I ordered a bunch of business cards and started to browse Artfire and Etsy to see if I could find someone who could create and design cost effective earring cards and display price tags for AnshStudio.
During my search, I came across several websites, some randomly showed jewelry raw materials, several different kinds of tags, cards etc. Looking at a particular jewelry raw material online store, I paused! I was like huh~ you can not only sell jewelry on these sites but also sell some really nice supplies too - to facilitate handmade artisans to create unique and one of a kind pieces. Since I had developed a reasonably large jewelry raw material inventory, I found this idea very lucrative and decided to give it a shot!
AnshStudio Supplies was then born! I opened my first AnshStudio Supplies store on Etsy on July 28, 2010 with a bunch of beads and pendant listings. I then added more and more listings each day. To my surprise, the sales here came much faster then on the jewelry online stores. I then opened my second AnshStudio Supplies online store on Artfire. Within 2 weeks, both these stores were running in full swing and orders started flowing in! I realized that there are tons of people out there who love to create and design their own jewelry. For the most part, its their hobby and a favorite pastime.
I also offered bulk buy, buyers had an option of contacting me if they wanted to buy supplies in bulk or had a question on a particular item. The response was very positive and till date I receive some really great feedback from buyers and other artisans.
