Below are some guidelines to help you find the right sized necklaces to match different outfits.

If you have a thin neck, consider a collar style necklace (usually about 12-13 inches).  These go really well with evening dresses, V- neck blouses, off the shoulder tops and other formal party or dinner clothes. These also look great with informal wear like jeans and v-neck shirts.

You can consider wearing a choker style necklace (usually about 14 - 16 inches) if you are not comfortable with something too close to your neck. Choker necklaces are usually single or multi strands and rests beautifully just below the neck.

Princess length necklaces (usually 17-19 inches) are most popular and is most standard necklace length size. These rests beautifully just below the collar bone. Ensure that the collar of your blouse, dress or top is either higher than the necklace or lower.

You can consider matinee style necklaces (usually 20-24 inches) for high or very low necklines.  These necklace add elegance to work clothes as well as casual wear. They look best if the outfit they are worn on are simple with minimal decoration or work.

Opera-length necklaces ( 28-34 inches) have started to become very popular recently. They are best if you want to draw attention away from your neck, down to your chest :).

Necklaces measuring over 45 inches are popularly called as rope necklaces or lariats. They can be worn in different ways, as a single strand, double strand or sometimes can be wrapped three or more times.
